Thomas's field trip

On April 14th I had an opportunity to help chaperon Thomas's class on a field trip to the Audubon park . When his teacher asked me if I would be able to go I was really happy to be able to go with him. This was the first time that I have been able to go with him on a field trip since kindergarten.
Since it was going to be in late in the morning Eric said that he would get up and stay with Livvy while I went up to meet Thomas up at the park. When I dropped him off at school I wasn't sure if he would be able to go because it was raining. But it had lighten up and by the time the kids got there it had stopped raining.
Since it was for all the second graders they had each class doing various activities through out the day. At first they were able to play in the playground and then we were able to go on a little hike. After the hike we had a picnic lunch and then we headed over to the museum. They had a little craft where they drew frog on a lily pad. Thomas had a lot of fun with this, as he loves doing art projects.
After the craft we headed upstairs to the John James Audubon nature museum. This was the first time that I have been in this building and I didn't realize that how much stuff they had inside. It was nice to have a tour guide as we went around he was able to tell us about all the different paintings and exhibits.
The last thing that his class went to was a presentation about reptiles. The person teaching this class was really good. She was able to keep all the kids attention and kept them entertained. She was also able to involve them by asking questions and passing around fun things to look at. It seemed that all the kids were impressed with her presentation.
At the end while you were walking out if you wanted to was touch one of the snakes that had out. For the most part all of the kids got their chance to touch it but there were a few that opted out. Thomas was one who wanted to touch the snake and he was one of the first in line. It was a fun afternoon and it was nice to be able to experience it with him : )
