Nashville Zoo

That evening in the hotel Eric and were deciding what we wanted to do the next day. With some research we went with the Nashville Zoo.
We had been planning on going back to the Louisville Zoo this spring because the boys really wanted to go to a zoo. We like to travel to different ones and thought the boys would have just as much here as the other. All the zoo's have some different animals and exhibits, so we were excited to see what this one had to offer.
For being in the end of February the weather really was not bad at all. We were all comfy in just a jacket. And to our pleasant surprise the tickets were half off the regular admission because we were still in the winter months!
Both of the boys always like to look at all the bugs/spider/frogs exhibits. Nashville had a really nice collection. Sup love the little blue frog that you can see on the right hand side.
Nashville had a part of the path that had bamboo growing on each side of the path. Both of the boys were fascinated by it.
For some reason Sup has really gotten into alligators. He loves to watch them and see them in videos and TV. So his animal to see this year was the alligators, he was asking about them all day. We finally made it to the alligator cove and they had some really nice view points. They had this one which was above the water and around the corner they had where you could see below the water.

Fun at the hotel

The boys love going to a hotel, I am sure most kids do. They always think it is this great adventure and are always excited to see what the room and the pool looks like.
In Nashville we were able to get a pretty good deal and in the evenings they offer popcorn and the pop machine is always available. So after we got settled in our room, I decided to take the boys down to get some fresh popcorn. They were really impressed with this and had a fun snack.
Since they boys were more interested in the popcorn when we came in the hotel, when we came back it was time to explore the room. We were on the outskirts of the city but the boys had fun looking out the window to see the "big city lights".
The boys love to swim in the pool, so that was our evening activity. Since Thomas can get himself dressed he is always the first one ready to go. At least this time he was waiting a little more patiently for everyone else to get ready by just relaxing on his bed :)

Loveless Cafe

We have done several mini/weekend trips and it is fun to explore a little. Eric sometimes gives me a hard time trying to find these "middle of nowhere" places. But if I have heard good things about it we will still go and try it out.
I had heard lots of good things about Loveless Cafe and decided that we would try it out for dinner. It is not too much in the middle of nowhere, but getting to it we did see a lot of nice scenery ;)
Of course being on a Saturday it was pretty busy and we had about an hour wait. It was nice because the motel part is no longer in operation so they have turned them into little shops. They also had games outside like corn hole that you could play while you wait. They had a fun little shop for the kids. They were able to sit at the little table and they provided coloring sheets and crayons. You could keep your pictures or give it the the cashier and they would hang it up on the wall. Thomas had one hung and took another one home. Sup chose to keep his not really understanding why you would give it away. But Thomas was happy to see his picture up on the wall for lots of people to see.

I of course was more interested in the market they had. I was a little hesitant in getting jam. I grew up on homemade jam and I think I have only picked up many 2 jars of jam/jelly in my lifetime and it tasted  terrible both times and just asked my parents to send me some. But when I looked at the blackberry jam it had simple ingredients: blackberries and sugar. So I thought maybe it can live up to my jam/jelly expectations, which are set pretty high. We were able to get some at dinner and both Eric and I LOVED it. It was great jam, we were not too crazy about the strawberry, so we were both very happy we went with the blackberry!
We still had a few minutes before our table was ready, so we sat out on the picnic table for a bit. The boys got these two dollar keychains from the kid place and it was a very good money spent. Since the table had a hole in the center, I imagine for like an umbrella. They would pull the string on the animal ( Sup got a cow and Thomas got a sheep) and see if it would "run" into the hole and "die". Then they would get under the table and do it all over again. This kept their attention until our table was ready :)

Goin' south

Eric and I like to take little weekend trips from time to time to see new places. We have typically gone east, north or west but we really haven't gone too much south since we have moved here. So for our anniversary we decided to try out Tennessee.
Because we don't live very close to a temple we try to stop and see some of the different ones when we go on trips. So here we are at the Nashville, Tennessee temple. The boys really have fun looking at them and this time we got to take a family picture :) I was able to get a little tripod for my camera and we wanted to try out the timer. And the temple gave us a perfect background :)

Working together

The car project is still a work in progress there have been a few snags and trying to figure out how things will work right but it has been fun to see father and son working so hard together.
The base of the car was the easy part. Eric was really good at working with Thomas and making sure that he was actively involved in the making of the car.
Because Thomas and Eric don't get a lot of time just with the two of them it was my job to keep Sup entertained. It worked out well because Sup loves to be read to. So we would head over to the play room and he would pile up a stack of books and we would sit and read while Thomas and Daddy worked :)
After a few weekends they had the base of the car put together.
