Saturday is the last day and probably the busiest day of the festival. They have two parades on Saturday one in the morning and a bigger one on the evening. After the first year we decided that the smaller morning one is less crowded and a lot easier to leave in the afternoon rather then the evening.
The morning parade started at 10 am and is known as the pet parade. It is fun to see all the pets and people dressed up in costumes. The boys had fun seeing all different animals and seeing them all dressed up.
There were mostly dogs but there were also some cats, birds, horses, and even a little girl walking a llama (reminding us of some our family back in Michigan ;)
After the parade we did our circle around the booths for lunch before we headed back home. There is a place that sells chocolate covered grapes, we were a little unsure but apparently they were "award winning". We have seen them in the years past but never had tried them before. So we thought we would give them a thy this year. I must admit they were pretty good and Thomas loved them. He sat and ate most of the bag. Sup on the other had ate all the chocolate around the grape and handed me the grape...this would be typical Sup ;)
It seems that my boys are corn dog/pronto pup junkies. There is no shortage of these around, although there are some better places to get them. They are not that picky if it has a stick with a battered hot dog they are happy little campers. (It seems this year the stick was a big deal to Thomas as after he finished it became a "pokey stick" for those who took a nap :)
It seems that you give 'em some chocolate milk and a corn dog and they are all smiles :)
I heard there were 34 new items in the booths this year. As mentioned before one was the deep fried Kool-aid. There was another one we decided to try, a deep fried smore. Now I am not sure how they kept the smore all together but it was a whole smore battered and deep fried, then dusted with powered sugar. It was okay probably not something that I would get again. Personally it needed more chocolate and the graham cracker itself I think was a too soft, probably from the batter. It was a fun time with lots of fun and crazy food. You have to be willing to open your mind to truly experience Fall Fest :)
