That Saturday we had Olivia's first birthday party :) Since it was January it was a cold day and a good day just to stay in and have a fun little family birthday party anyhow.
For her birthday dinner we tried to pick all the foods she like to eat since she couldn't tell us what she wanted for her dinner. We went with quiche, hash browns, and strawberries. She loved it! she ate everything all up and seemed to be pretty satisfied with her first birthday meal.
After dinner we wanted to let our tummies settle before cake so we headed over to open her birthday gifts. Since she was so sick during Christmas this was the first time she really had a chance to open presents. At first she wasn't quite sure what to do. But with two older brother she was able pick up on how rather quick.
At first the boys didn't seem to interested in her gifts and were pretty helpful in getting her gifts and showing her how they worked. She was able to get some fun things from everyone. The boys had a little gift for her as well and couldn't wait until she opened them.
Like the Christmas toys when Livvy moved on to something else the boys would start playing some kind of battle game with the her toys. Their imagination sometimes really can be impressive.
For her cake this year I decided to go with a cupcake cake. This way everyone could have their own cake and we didn't have to cut and it was a lot easier to store what was leftover. If you were not aware this little girl is very much a girly girl so I went with this dress cake. Something fun and girly yet simple , it really did turn out nice.
She was pretty excited to get her very own cupcake. We took off the cupcake paper and let her have at it. The frosting, like most little kids, was the to get eaten. But she also ate the cake as well and amazingly she didn't get too messy! Happy Birthday sweet Olivia :)
