We first planted our raspberry bushes the first spring we moved into our home. As with most fruit the first two year produce just a few berries.
Now that we are in our third year the berries are becoming more plentiful. This is very exciting for all of us. As we watched the berries slowly turn color the boys were getting very excited. We planted a few different types of both raspberries and blackberries. The blackberries may not make it this year with the very hot and dry weeks we have had. But some of the raspberries became ripe before the extreme heat. The orangish ones are a different type so we didn't pick them too soon ;)that is as dark as they get .
The golden raspberries are a sweeter berry and they were a very popular choice among the boys. Eric and I had picked these on a Saturday evening, and Daddy did have to sacrifice more then his shares of pokes and scratches on his arms from the bushed. As soon as we walked in the back door the boys were ready for their berries.
I think Eric and I got one of each berry, so between the two of us we had four. The rest were just about inhaled by the boys. Out of the two handfuls I had I think they lasted about 30 seconds and that may be a stretch :)
